No touch homes are just not my idea of living. Although I love the idea of luxury design the thought of not cuddling up on the couch with the ones I hold dear just sounds boring. I create spaces where you can live without worry that mix luxury and livable.
Crypton Fabric
Performance fabric has come a long way over the past few years and the brightest Superhero in this category is Crypton fabric. It’s stain-resistant, odor-resistant, and antimicrobial, it is also made without harmful chemicals, making it the perfect family-friendly fabric.
Leather
Leather is an investment-worthy option for so many reasons, but especially because it ages beautifully and is extremely tough. We’ve had our leather living room sofa for over 10 years and are still in love with it. It’s a timeless piece. Most spills can be easily wiped off with a paper towel or damp cloth. Allergy sufferers often do better with leather sofas because leather doesn’t harbor dust mites, pet dander, and other allergens as easily as fabric does.
Velvet
Although velvet is known as a more “fancy” fabric, it is also surprisingly very durable! Tightly woven …creates a barrier preventing spills from instantly being absorbed deep down into the fabric. Instead, it kind of hovers on top of it (for a few seconds), giving you time to run and grab something before it permanently sinks in, making it another good choice for family living spaces.
Slipcovers
Another fabric-saving strategy: Splurge on washable slipcovers or zip-off cushion covers. Just throw them in the wash anytime there’s a stain or they need a good clean. Our white sofa we have in our media room would have never happened if it didn’t have washable slip covers!
